There was a time when the lock screen didn't mean anything. It was a default image: a mountain, a beach, a flower. The manufacturer picked it. You changed it three times and then forgot about it. Then the shortcuts. Then the OS recommendations, the calendar suggestions, the weather alerts, the fitness app reminders.
